Tim Hawkey

Managing Director—Creative

Born into an advertising family, Tim Hawkey spent his first 22 years trying to avoid a life in advertising. He may have failed miserably at that, but he's made up for it with a meteoric, award-winning career.

Hawkey cut his teeth building healthcare megabrands at Grey Healthcare Group and Havas Life. For the past 12 years, he's made FCB Health his home, the last 4 of which he has spent leading sister agency Area 23 and establishing it as a creative force in the industry.

"Do what scares you," Hawkey espouses to his teams. He believes that a great creative idea should challenge the customer, and the clients, even if that means implementing a little shock and awe from time to time. "If they don't stop and notice you, then everything you're doing is just a waste of time."

It's this drive to push the limits that has brought so much attention to the work of Tim and his teams, who have brought in dozens of accolades from the Manny's, the Global Awards, the RX Club, and the Clios. Notably, his 2009 initiative Live in My Skin took home the Grand Global, Grand Clio, and Med Ad News Best Disease Awareness Campaign, and helped FCB Health win Med Ad News Most Creative Agency for 2010. Most recently, Area 23 has been nominated by the Manny's for Most Creative Agency, and was awarded MM&M's Agency of the Year 2014.

Renée Mellas

Managing Director—Account

FCB runs through Renée Mellas's veins – with over 20 years of healthcare advertising experience, Renée's spent nearly half of them in the FCB family. Over the years, she's built a robust career, tackling nearly every therapeutic category in markets domestic and global, professional and consumer. There's no challenge Renée has not absolutely conquered – and she's always looking for more.

Throughout her career, Renée has managed accounts running the gamut from smaller, targeted brands to vast blockbusters like Celebrex. It was her experience and passion for running these multidisciplinary groups that gave her the taste of what leading an agency was like – so she did just that…twice. First, as one of the founding partners of the independent agency, Wishbone. Then, as if that wasn't enough, she decided to do it all over again – co-founding yet another, Calcium.

It was with this entrepreneurial spirit that Renée returned home to where it all began – back in the folds of FCB with Area 23. It's here that Renée has led the agency to win over 15 new accounts in just 2 years and, most recently, helped Area 23 take home the coveted award of Agency of the Year 2014.

Renée's "other home" is in New Canaan, CT, with her 2 daughters, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and husband (just one). Sports are her passion, and she credits her success in agency life to the competitive spirit and collaborative approach that have been ingrained in her for years.
